The size of an image is expressed in pixels. Those are the points from which an image is constructed. What about the density of the ink points used to print your design? That is the resolution. The more points per inch (dpi), the higher the quality of your image. Images on your computer screen are displayed at 72 dpi. But for printing work, you need a resolution of 300 dpi.
If you convert your image to 300 dpi? Then you also change the size of your image. An example? What happens if you convert a photo that completely fills a screen of 800 by 600 pixels to 300 dpi? Then you end up with a little photo that measures 6.7 by 5.1 cm. So take this into account when you layout your design!

Are you shooting for an impeccable final result? With hair-fine texts and images? Then don't forget to convert your design from 72 dpi to 300 dpi. If you don't do that, there is a good chance that your image will look out of focus or pixellated (block effect).

Please note: Are you ordering your printed materials in large format (such as a photo canvas or a banner)? Then a resolution of 150 dpi is more than sufficient!

Have you found the perfect image on the Internet? Then take into account the fact that it only has a resolution of 72 dpi. So conversion is a must! But it is possible that the image still won't be qualitatively good enough to print.
