Embossing and punchcutting are nice extras to be added to your printed matter for special occasions. It gives your printed matter a unique touch and pleasant feel.

Embossing
Embossing (also called relief printing) is a printing technique without ink.
During the embossing process, letters or pictures are printed onto your printed matter without using ink or any other colouring. The print will only be visible in the printed fabric. Embossing can apply either an upward or downward relief in your printed matter.
By applying relief on (or in) the printing plate and then printing it, a relief will also appear on the paper. Due to the action of shades the image can be seen. You can clearly feel the print when touching it.
If you order printed matter with embossing at PrintConcept.be, select “embossing” under optional finishing. When you upload your design, also upload a second file where you indicate in 100% black where the design needs to be punched. This procedure is similar to the procedure for supplying your UV spot varnish files. A stamp will be made based on your design.
Embossing will give a special touch to logos, business cards, invitations, postcards, ... Besides, it will much more difficult to copy your designs.
Braille is a very well-known example of embossing.
Punchcutting

Punchcutting (also called perforating or punching) involves removing certain parts from the paper by means of a matrix. It allows the paper to be cut accurately and quickly in the right shape and size.
If you want to order printed matter with punchcutting at PrintConcept.be, select “punchcutting” under optional finishing. When you upload your design, also upload a second file where you indicate in 100% black where the design needs to be punched. This procedure is similar to the procedure for supplying your UV spot varnish files. A matrix will be made based on your design.
A simple example of perforating (punchcutting) is a perforator which is used to make holes in a sheet of paper.
Punchcutting or perforating can be applied on all kinds of printed matter: door hangers, presentation folders, business cards, flyers, ...
How do I supply my embossing and/or punchcutting design? |

| - Make the design for your printed matter – as usual. Save the file as ‘design’.
- Make a new file – with exactly the same dimensions as your ‘design’. The exact location of embossing or punchcutting? Indicate it in 100% black. Save this file as ‘embossing’ or ‘punchcutting’.
- Order your printed matter.
When you order your printed matter, upload the respective file to the right page of the design tool on Printconcept.be. And that’s it!
